KEY STAT | Alibaba’s workplace messaging app reaches 400 million users

DingTalk, the office collaboration tool developed by Alibaba (NYSE: BABAHKEX: 9988), on Thursday announced that it passed 400 million users coming from more than 17 million institutions, like enterprises and schools, 36Kr reported.

Its domestic competitor, Tencent-owned WeChat Work recently said that it now has 130 million active users, KrASIA reported last month.

While DingTalk’s monthly active users tripled in the first quarter of 2020, as COVID-19 forced many Chinese to study and work from home, it was already the most-used office collaboration app in the country before the pandemic, according to research firm QuestMobile.

Similar to Slack, DingTalk offers a chat function, contains a file-sharing drive, location-based clock-in and out tool, video meeting, and other necessary functions to meet the remote work collaboration needs of its clients.
